Sherlock IV - The filming is on!

Unless you avidly avoid social media you cannot fail to have noticed that filming on Sherlock series four has commenced.

Here is the latest image I've seen on the subject:

So what have we heard about series four?

Well we've been told it will be darker and all about consequences. This could mean anything really. Mark Gatiss has said he wants to match season three. In my opinion that's setting the bar low as series two was superior. I rather hope he aims for that instead. We'll see soon enough as he is responsible for the first episode of the series.

Details are thin beyond this (and contradictory) so it's best not to assume anything. That said, Martin Freeman seems fairly convinced that Mary will die but no idea if it will happen this series:

“While we play fast and loose with the original stories, we generally follow the trajectory of what Conan Doyle did. So he [Watson] gets married, and then Mary dies – so at some point presumably she’ll die.”
We also know that Steve Thompson is not part of this series with Gatiss and Moffat writing one episode each and co-writing the third.

All of this sourced from Cultbox.

  1. We also know that there was a casting call for a newborn baby by the agency in Cardiff which handles their extras etc.

And MG said the story 'reaches its climax' this series. So, no S5? I'd wager they'll try to go movie after S4. What do you think?
