Crikey! There's nothing on.
Well we are now suffering an almost total absence of Mr Holmes from our screens.
There is not a single "current" Sherlock on our screens at the moment. Sherlock, Elementary and RDJs films are on hiatus. All we have to enjoy (if we are so inclined) are the Granada series on ITV3 (in the UK) and the occasional Rathbone.
This is, in some respects, a dangerous time. The less patient amongst the fan-base will be desperate to fill the void and it is during this period that we are most likely to see the more "out there" theories presented.
If you are desperate for a 100% solution of Baker Street I suggest you wander back into the past.
The films of Arthur Wontner may be slow paced by modern standards but they represent, to my mind, the first decent series of Holmes adventures post arrival of talking pictures. Four of Wontner's five outings can be seen on Youtube.
The Sign of Four
The Triumph of Sherlock Holmes
Silver Blaze / Murder at the Baskervilles
The Sleeping Cardinal / Sherlock Holmes's Fatal Hour
