I read "The Lost World" just after finishing first two volumes of Holmes adventures (which ended with FINA and I was heartbroken because there were no more volumes in that library). I found it while searching (in vain at that time) for more Holmes stories and at first I was a bit disappointed that it's not about Holmes, however after a first few pages I totally forgot everything. Conan Doyle is a great story teller, so combining that with dinosaurs, to me is an instant winner.
However it's been years since I last read it. Might be a high time to revisit it.
