Holmes and Watson: Thoughts

Everyone else appears to have made a statement on this film so I am going to join them and no I haven't seen it.

Coming soon (I hope)...

Some of you may have noticed me referring to a Doylean commission on social media over the last few weeks.

Review: The Complete Paget Porfolio

When I first saw the earlier adverts for The Complete Paget Portfolio I was excited and the book does not disappoint.

The Sidney Paget Holmes drawings are, in my opinion, definitive. They set the standard for depictions of Holmes in pretty much all media. As such I really want to know all I can about them.

Review: Unquiet Spirits by Bonnie MacBird

I recently finished reading Bonnie's latest Sherlock Holmes pastiche - Unquiet Spirits - and it has been a good ride.

Review - Sherlock Holmes, The Missing Years: Timbuktu:

This book purports to be the true account of what Sherlock Holmes did after Reichenbach and makes plain that Watson did not tell us the truth about what happened to the Great Detective.

Review: The House at Baker Street

Pan Macmillan recently supplied me with a copy of The House at Baker Street by Michelle Birkby. Here is my review.

Current reading

I don't know what's happened to me but I've gone out of my way to obtain some more Holmes pastiche to review.

Can someone tell me why? (well apart from the obvious)

So the BBC has decided to publish a book of selected Sherlock Holmes stories. The selectors in this instance being Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat.

We are custodians – nothing more….

I recently, as mentioned in other posts, secured a long wanted item…the autograph of Jeremy Brett.

Like, I suspect, many of my readers, I am a hoarder of things Sherlockian; although I am quite focused in what I do and do not collect. This is partly driven by my personal taste but also by space (or lack thereof).

The gallery develops

At home I have something of a Sherlockian gallery. The latest item is now in situ....

No Better Place - not long to wait

I don't really know what percentage of my blog's readership are really interested in Arthur Conan Doyle but....

New Book - Final Front Cover

I am now able to do two things at once. I can reveal the finished front cover and, at the same time, the identity of the author of my guest foreword.

I have a draft cover now

As some of my Twitter followers now know, I am in possession of the first draft of my book's cover.

Latest book - update

Not too much to report, but I thought I'd provide an update on where I am with the latest book.
